Cookie Policy
Effective date: 17 September 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how GolfSavvy (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on golfsavvy.co.uk.
1) What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They do things like make the site work, remember your preferences, and help us understand how people use the site. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels, and SDKs—together, “cookies”.
2) How we classify cookies
We group cookies into these categories:
Strictly necessary – Required for the site to function (security, load balancing, consent records). These run without consent.
Preferences/Functional – Remember choices (e.g., region).
Performance/Analytics – Help us understand usage to improve the site (e.g., GA4).
Advertising/Marketing – Measure campaigns, attribute affiliate sales, and show relevant content. Set only with your consent.
Legal basis: For non-essential cookies we rely on your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). For strictly necessary cookies we rely on legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to operate a secure, functional service.
3) Your choices
Give/withdraw consent: Use the Manage cookies link any time to change settings.
Browser controls: You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Doing so may affect site functionality.
Do Not Track: We do not respond to DNT signals due to lack of standardisation.
4) Cookies and similar tech we use
The exact cookies depend on the features you use. Your cookie banner/manager will present the current list and let you opt in/out by category.
A) Strictly necessary
consent_manager_state / cmplz_* (Cookie banner) – Stores your consent choices; ensures your preferences are respected. Duration: up to 12 months. Provider: GolfSavvy / CMP.
__cf_bm / cf_clearance (if using Cloudflare) – Bot management and security. Duration: short-lived to 30 days. Provider: Cloudflare.
wp_ / wordpress_ / rehub_* ** – WordPress/Theme operational cookies for logged-in admins, load, and caching. Duration: session to 1 year. Provider: GolfSavvy.
B) Preferences/Functional
_GRECAPTCHA (Google reCAPTCHA on forms) – Spam protection. Duration: up to 6 months. Provider: Google.
C) Performance/Analytics (only with consent)
_ga, ga<container>, _gid (Google Analytics 4) – Pseudonymous analytics: pages visited, events, device info. Duration: 24 hours to 24 months. Provider: Google.
_gcl_au – Stores ad/attribution info for analytics. Duration: 90 days. Provider: Google.
D) Advertising/Marketing & Affiliate (only with consent)
Affiliate network cookies (e.g., AWIN, Impact, CJ, Webgains, Rakuten) – When you click an affiliate link, the network/retailer sets a cookie to attribute any purchase to GolfSavvy. Duration: typically 1–30 days (varies by program). Provider: respective network/retailer.
UTM/Click identifiers – We may append tracking parameters to outbound links for campaign measurement; networks may place a first-party cookie to record the click.
We do not set retailer login or payment cookies. Those are set by the retailer when you visit or buy from them and are governed by their own policies.
5) Local storage, pixels, and SDKs
We may use local/session storage to keep UI preferences (e.g., filter states) and pixels (tiny images or scripts) for analytics/attribution. Local storage stays until you clear it in your browser; pixels don’t store data on your device themselves but may read/write cookies as allowed by your consent.
6) How long cookies last
Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies last for a defined period (see examples above) unless you delete them sooner.
We set retention to the minimum needed and review periodically.
7) Third-party cookies & international transfers
Some cookies are set by third parties (e.g., Google, Cloudflare, affiliate networks). These providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions (e.g., UK-US Data Bridge where applicable) or approved safeguards (e.g., UK IDTA/EU SCCs). See the provider’s policies for details.
Google (Analytics & reCAPTCHA): policies.google.com/privacy
Cloudflare: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
AWIN/Impact/CJ/Webgains/Rakuten: see each network’s privacy/cookie policy.
8) Managing your settings (how to show this on your site)
Keep a “Cookie settings” link in your footer that opens your consent manager.
Your banner should block non-essential scripts until consent is given and respect category choices (Consent Mode v2 recommended if using Google tags).
If you change vendors or add tools, update this page and your CMP configuration.
9) Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our services. We’ll post the new version here and update the effective date.
